Certified Sex Therapists and Counselors

Certified Sex Therapist, requires a whole other level of training, education, and supervision.

In our society there are many designations and titles that are actually protected by the law, such as being a medical doctor, a lawyer, registered engineer, or registered psychologist. However, there are many titles that are not protected by the law, such as life coach, counsellor, therapist, or sex therapist. Although many individuals can receive some form of training or certification in these areas, it does not necessarily mean that these programs are the same as an individual that has attended school, and participated in additional training platforms and processes.

A certified Sex Therapist can help you understand why things got the way they are.

Becoming a registered psychologist in the province of Alberta requires a high degree of training, and education in various different areas. Becoming an American Association of Sex Educator, Counsellor, and Therapist (AASECT) Certified Sex Therapist, requires a whole other level of training, education, and supervision that psychologists go through to ensure they have the most accurate training, and up-to-date information to work in sexual health, and sex and intimacy counselling. This process can take up to 2 to 3 years, plus several years of experience before even applying for the certification process.

It is very important to the psychologists working at Blake Psychological Services Alberta Inc. to stay up-to-date on the most effective treatment methods, best practices, and practice guidelines from both the Alberta College of Psychologists and from AASECT. We practice with many years of dedication, diligence, and devotion to the areas of sexual health, education, training, counselling, and therapeutic interventions.

A certified sex therapist can help you unpack your beliefs, upbringings, education, lessons and sexuality.

Many individuals are looking to “spice up the bedroom,” and believe me, we are all for that. However, sometimes bringing in new toys or a new outfit or opening up the relationship may increase sexual activity for a brief period of time, it is likely insufficient to understand why things got the way they were and to have happier, healthier, and more satisfying sexual lives.

A certified sex therapist or individuals working under the supervision of a certified sex therapist can help you unpack your beliefs, upbringings, education, lessons and sexuality in such a way that you can transform and modify your sexual awareness to deliver an even better sexual experience.

As the old joke goes, farmers do it in the dirt! Well, let’s get you doing it in the bedroom, kitchen, living room, your best friend’s place, outside, your car, and anywhere else you might want to do it and have some fun…

Come heal, grow and create together
